As an electrical instrumentation system designer (Part 1)

I was involved in this project from the design stage as the person in charge of the detail design for electrical instrumentation. The project had a lot of meetings with the client, and every month we explained the completed design drawings to the customer.
Normally, explanations are not given with such frequency. To help our customers better understand our equipment, I have made every effort to provide easy-to-understand explanations of what they might want to know and how to install electrical work.

I stayed at the installation site for about four months, from final confirmation of electrical work to commissioning and checking of production. At one time there were nearly 20 members of the commissioning team, including those from our business partners.
There were times when our company’s members alone numbered up to ten. To facilitate communication, we all went out to eat together often. Occasionally, we ate not only with our members but also with other people involved in the project to deepen our friendship.

On our days off, we played catch regardless of our position, and before the completion of commissioning, we played a game of softball with person in charge from client. Since the atmosphere was very good, we were able to smoothly communicate not only among our company members but also with the customer and other people involved in the project.
Under these circumstances, the test run could be done as scheduled and its adjustments were satisfactory and good.

As an electrical instrumentation system designer (Part 2)

At the time of the project’s inception, the members of the team were determined to squeeze the maximum amount of technology, skills, knowledge, and ideas that we had, to bring a good product to the market. It reminded me once again that the energy when we come together is tremendous and powerful. It gave me the strength to face any difficulties.

At the same time, I enjoyed my work more than ever. I think that’s because, although there were quite a few difficult points due to the high level of requirements, I was able to work with respectable seniors and hard-working juniors, and I felt a certain happiness. They, my team members, helped me when I was in a tight spot, supported me emotionally, and followed up generously.

In terms of work, based on my knowledge, skills, and know-how gained over ten years of experience, I paid attention to create drawings for higher efficiency and easier programming through standardization and arrangement. In addition, because this project dealt with so many electrical components, I was able to re-read the instruction manuals for the equipment again to improve its use and deepen my knowledge of useful features that I had not used before.

I have also had the opportunity to work with people outside of our company on this project, who have inspired me both in my work and in my life. I realized once again that listening to a variety of stories helps one to develop the ability to see things from different angles and to think about things from multiple perspectives. I believe that by viewing things in this way, we can make more choices and come up with the best possible means.

During the commissioning period of the installation site, we were on the site for several months, and I have fond memories of buying gloves and balls and playing catch in the park on my days off.
During my stay at an installation site for other project, I also bought a BBQ set and had a barbecue at the beach in winter on my days off, which is one of my fondest memories.

My work can be challenging and difficult in some areas, but more than that, it is rewarding and gives me a sense of accomplishment. I also believe a sense of fulfillment and achievement is not something that can be given to you, but something you have to find on your own. I hope that this site will help people find a motivation and a sense of completion for work in their own way in the future.
